Entry for January 10, 2007 - Snow...

So...me 'n' snow.
My life's memories of it ~
Twirling, sliding, facing upward, catching the icy frost-flakes of white stuff on my tongue...
The crunch of my booted feet as I tried to walk through mounds of this wondrous sparkling blanket, knees hitting my chest because I was too short to keep my feet level...
Touching it for the first time without mittens on, feeling how cold it really was...seeing it turn to water against the warmth of my skin...I couldn't hold on to it...
Lying down next to my sisters and moving my arms and legs...angels descended from the heavens to grace the white with their shadows...they fit us perfectly...
Taking great chunks of the hardened stuff and carving it into human sculptures...great magical beings...men and women with black coal-like eyes and an old scarf to keep them warmed against the chill of themselves...
Laughing, chasing through crystal palaces, playing hide-and-seek in our own imaginary world, throwing balls of coldness to catch the other person unawares...no fair hitting the face!...not caring if we did, either...
Waking up to the first morning light in the ice-covered trees, bare of leaves, wearing their winter's jewelry...
Yeah, me 'n' snow ~ we're good.
